Attic Remediation – Glenview, IL 60025

Customer Name:

Chris L.

Problem:

Chris had noticed a mold like substance growing on the rafters and plywood sheeting in his attic. He was worried that because his attic was so low that it would be very difficult to move around and do the work. Chris called us for an estimate and we went out there and told him that was no problem.

Solution:

The Alliance Restoration crew set up a containment, and within that area they mechanically agitated and HEPA vacuumed the attic area. After this was completed the EPA registered sanitizer was applied. From there we applied the mold resistant coating to make sure that the mold would not return in the future. Chris and his wife were very happy with the work that was done to his attic.

Customer Name:

Kristen & Scott K.

Problem:

The clients noticed water staining on the 2nd floor ceiling of the home. This caused the clients to be concerned and seek a professional opinion. They called a contractor for repair and it was determined that the problem was coming from the attic space. Attics aren’t the most occupied space in a home, so this wasn’t something uncommon. There was an attic fan present and running, but no soffit vents were present to increase the airflow. This caused the insulation to be saturated with moisture. This is what led to the water staining on the ceiling and mold growth in the attic. Kristen and Scott knew at this point, a professional needed to come in to fix this problem.

Solution:

The clients began to seek out professionals that could help suggest a solution for their water and mold issues. They needed a company that they could trust to provide them with solid options. After meeting with project managers they agreed to work with Alliance. They believed in the brand and that the project manager could orchestrate a successful project in their regard. It is important to understand; that before mold remediation can begin, all water issues must be resolved. Alliance went in removed and discarded all of the wet insulation and performed mold remediation under containment. The clients were thoroughly pleased to see the results of Alliance’s work. They were also given the peace of mind that their attic was now a clean and healthy space again.

Anything interesting with the project?

  1. The homeowners requested that we set up our containment system from the attic scuttle on the 2nd floor all the way down the stairs out the front door.
  2. There was both pre and post testing done in the space.
  3. The homeowner requested that we apply the mold resistant coating to the attic floor after the insulation removal as well.

Any Quotes from the homeowner:

The homeowner shared with us that the testing company stated that “the attic was clean enough to eat off of” after they had been there to do the post testing.

Alliance was extremely professional and did a wonderful job explaining in detail exactly what would be done. They were extremely careful at making sure that they removed the mold and our insulation without compromising the rest of our house. Their employees were extremely prompt, polite and knowledgeable. We had an outside company test once Alliance was done and the mold was successfully removed the first time. We would highly recommend them.” Kristen & Scott K.

Customer Name:

Amy & Matt W.

Problem:

As a homeowner trying to sell a home, it can be deflating to receive unexpected news during a home inspection. Amy and Matt were selling their home and had a potential home buyer ready to purchase. The buyer had their home inspector come out to do a full inspection of the property. During the inspection, it was revealed that the bath vents were exhausting into the attic. This caused mold to grow on the attic sheathing and rafters. This discovery definitely heightened the level of concern for the homeowners. There are many factors to consider when dealing with mold. One factor is being at risk for the buyer to potentially walk away. Another factor was the buyer could ask for a significant price reduction, substantially lower than the asking price. Lastly, a major factor could even be a lawsuit. Hypothetically; let’s say the mold went unnoticed just as it had leading up to this point, the homeowner would very well purchase the property. In the event that the new homeowner noticed mold, they could come after Amy and Matt with a lawsuit whether they were aware of the mold or not. These just being a couple of factors, definitely provided the homeowners with a strong sense of urgency to get this matter resolved. They needed to find a solution quickly to keep their buyer from walking away.

Solution:

The first order of business for the homeowners was to find a company that specialized in mold removal and mold remediation. If there were any chance of saving this sale, this was very important. They couldn’t just settle for a company to do an average mold cleanup, but rather a company that could minimize the chance of it ever returning. After consulting with contractors for attic mold removal costs the homeowners agreed upon Alliance Restoration. Alliance Restoration possessed the key qualities necessary that the homeowners desired from an attic mold contractor. The Alliance Restoration crew went in, under containment, and cleaned up the mold by mechanically agitating and HEPA vacuuming the hard surfaces. They then applied a sanitizer to kill any mold remnants followed by a mold resistant coating to ensure the mold could not return. The homeowners were indeed satisfied with the work Alliance Restoration performed. They were also at peace knowing that the professionals at Alliance restored the value of their home at such an urgent time.

Anything interesting with the project?

The client hired an IEP(Indoor Environmental Professional) to create a remediation plan that we executed to completion.
